Question 1

Am I eligible to take this course?

Accepted Answer

You are eligible if you received a civil traffic citation in Arizona, have not taken a defensive driving course in the past 12 months from your violation date, have a valid Arizona or out-of-state driver's license, were not involved in an accident involving injury or death related to this citation, and must complete the course at least 7 days before your arraignment date. Eligibility is confirmed at registration through the Arizona Supreme Court DDTS database.

Question 2

What if my violation isn't on the eligibility list?

Accepted Answer

Eligibility is confirmed at registration through the Arizona Supreme Court DDTS database. If your specific violation is not eligible for diversion, you will be notified before any payment is processed.

Question 3

What if my arraignment date is coming up soon?

Accepted Answer

You must complete the course at least 7 days before your arraignment date. If your arraignment is less than 7 days away, you are not eligible to register. Contact your court immediately to request an extension.

Question 4

How long does the course take?

Accepted Answer

The course requires a minimum of 4 hours of instructional content as required by Arizona law. You can log in and out freely — your progress is saved automatically. Your content timer only counts instructional time, not quiz or verification time. You have at most 4.5 hours total to complete the course.

Question 5

Can I use my phone or tablet?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The course works on any device with a modern web browser — phone, tablet, or computer. No app download required.

Question 6

Can I take breaks during the course?

Accepted Answer

Yes. You can log in and out as many times as needed. Your progress and timer are saved automatically. If you are inactive the system logs you out to protect your session. You must complete the course at least 7 days before your arraignment date.

Question 7

What do I need to register?

Accepted Answer

Your traffic citation, a government-issued photo ID, your court date, and a payment method. Both your citation and ID must be uploaded during registration before course access is granted.

Question 8

What happens during identity verification?

Accepted Answer

Arizona law requires identity verification at multiple points during the course. You will be asked questions using your registration information. If verification fails your account is locked and you must restart the course from the beginning — there are no retests.

Question 9

Will my traffic ticket be dismissed?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Upon successful completion ABC Defensive Driving electronically reports your completion to the Arizona Supreme Court Defensive Driving Tracking System (DDTS), which notifies your court. No points are added to your driving record and your court fine is waived.

Question 10

What happens after I finish the course?

Accepted Answer

Your completion is electronically reported to the Arizona Supreme Court DDTS within 3 business days, which notifies your court automatically. You will also receive a completion certificate by email for your records.

Question 11

Will this affect my insurance rates?

Accepted Answer

Completing the defensive driving diversion program does not automatically notify your insurance company. No points are added to your driving record, and the citation is dismissed — what you choose to share with your insurer is up to you.

Question 12

Do you serve my city and court?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Because our course is fully online, ABC Defensive Driving accepts students from all Arizona courts statewide — no matter where you live or received your citation. We serve online students from Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe, Mesa, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Peoria, Surprise, Goodyear, Avondale, Buckeye, Maricopa, Apache Junction, Tucson, Flagstaff, Sedona, Prescott, Prescott Valley, Yuma, Lake Havasu City, Kingman, Bullhead City, Sierra Vista, Nogales, Casa Grande, Show Low and all surrounding communities.

Question 13

Is my personal information secure?

Accepted Answer

Yes. All data is encrypted and stored securely. Your information is used only to verify your identity and report your completion to the court as required by Arizona law.
